MANHATTAN, Kan. - On December 12th of last year, Reid Najvar gave his verbal pledge to play for Bob Davie's program at New Mexico. That was before receiving an official offer from Kansas State. Once the Wildcat offer came, it didn't take the 6-foot-4, 290-pound offensive lineman from Klein Oak High School in the Houston area long to change his mind.

"I gave my commitment to Coach Dimel," said Reid Najvar. "They did a great job recruiting me since the beginning of the summer. My decision was based on the Kansas State coaches and my desire to go against Big 12 competition. I've watched my brother play in the Big 12 the past two seasons and I wanted to do the same. It's a great program, a winning program, and I can't wait to be a part of it. I'm going to Manhattan for my official visit next weekend."

Najvar's older brother, Jordan, has established himself as one of the premier tight ends in the conference after transferring to Baylor from Stanford in 2010. Now the younger Najvar brother gets the same opportunity to showcase his talent in an elite BCS conference. Najvar had offers from Air Force, FIU, and Texas State in addition to New Mexico, and Kansas State.

"They like me a guard but I'm going to be talking more about that with Coach Dickey on my visit," stated Najvar. "I like the offense. I'm a physical player who enjoys a lot of contact. Making big holes for the running back to get through and getting to the next level with my athleticism is by best strength. This year [at Klein Oak] I felt like I improved most on my pulls for the run, but also quite a bit in pass pro."

Najvar runs a respectable 5.2 forty yard dash. He says his bench max is 315 pound and squat max is 485. Although the Klein Oak Panthers were only 3-7 this season, Navjar was selected as one of the top 100 prospects in area for 2013 by the Houston Chronicle. Najvar wore number-71 for the Panthers and was a three year starter on varsity.
